2022.06.02 – a documentary about scientific methods to mitigate human-elephant conflicts

We invite you to watch a documentary about attempts to mitigate conflicts between agriculture and wildlife in Africa, which was produced as part of a project implemented by IBS PAN together with the Southern Tanzania Elephant Program in Tanzania. The aim of the project was to promote human-elephant coexistence in southern Tanzania. Human-elephant conflicts pose a threat to a significant part of the African elephant population there. These animals migrate for long distances, frequently encroaching on farmlands. New research tools and modern methods of elephant deterrence promoted by the project can help to better protect elephants, at the same time ensuring the safety of local people.
The project “Improving conditions for human-elephant coexistence in Tanzania’s Kilombero Valley through conflict mitigation, livelihood enhancement, training and technology” was co-financed by the Polish development cooperation of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Poland.
