Science cartoon for the article “Food patch selection by the largest European herbivore” published by the MRI PAS team in the journal Mammalian Biology. The publication shows the selection of vegetation patches by European bison in the Białowieża Forest. The bison selected vegetation patches of intermediate biomass, which allowed them to optimise foraging time and energy intake. Despite high sexual dimorphism and the associated ability to digest food of different quality, we did not observe any differences in the selection of vegetation patches between male and female bison.
