Science cartoon for the article “Do large herbivores maintain open habitats in temperate forests?” published in the journal Forest Ecology and Management by the MRI PAS team. The publication shows that bison reduce encroachment of trees and shrubs on meadows in the Białowieża Forest! Such a relationship has not been observed for other species of ungulates.
