MRI PAS on the International Day of Biodiversity in the Park of Knowledge and Fun in Białowieża

Our Institute jointly with other Białowieża’s institutions celebrated the International Day of Biodiversity in the Park of Knowledge and Fun at the reconstructed Palace Train Station. The event organized by the Białowieża Academy of Biodiversity on May 22, 2015 was very popular among visitors, both children and adults. MRI’s  stand for several hours was besieged by the residents of Białowieża, and guests from other regions of Poland. We showed specimens from our collection and demonstrated our research techniques: radio-tracking and camera-trapping. Skulls of shrews, bison and other mammals, lynx tapeworm or recordings from photo-cameras aroused great interest. Both, younger and older could test their knowledge by solving riddles about animals. We presented also books published in MRI. Dr Karol Zub from our Institute guided visitors through the Białowieża Forest Stars Avenue. The event was an attractive form of popularization of scientific research.
