BioPlanet Doctoral School
The School is jointly run by three institutes of the Polish Academy of Sciences: the Museum and Institute of Zoology PAS, which is the lead institution, the Institute of Paleobiology PAS, and the Mammal Research Institute PAS.
The BioPlanet Doctoral School prepares students to obtain a doctoral degree in the disciplines of biological sciences and Earth and environmental sciences.
Thanks to its coherent education programme, the School offers a unique opportunity to acquire knowledge in selected areas of biology, paleobiology, and biogeology. The School’s interdisciplinary educational profile and outstanding academic staff provide doctoral students with a thorough deepening of knowledge across a broad range of natural sciences, as well as an understanding of the fundamental biological and evolutionary processes of the living world.
The BioPlanet Doctoral School offers doctoral research topics in zoology, ecology, parasitology, paleobiology/paleontology, biomineralization, and evolution, focusing on invertebrates, mainly insects, and vertebrates, mainly reptiles, birds, and mammals, as well as other topics at the interface of geology, biology, and environmental sciences. Doctoral students may also propose their own dissertation topics in consultation with potential supervisors.
The programme lasts four years and concludes with the submission of a doctoral dissertation.
