My research interests mainly include applied ecology and conservation biology. I study spatial and temporal biodiversity patterns to understand mechanisms driving population dynamics and population decreases in species of conservation concern and to propose wildlife management strategies and conservation measures. Which type of management will be most beneficial for threatened mammals, birds or insects? When and where conservation measures should be applied? Are the measures (e.g. agri-environment schemes, or organic farming) effective? These are the questions I am trying to address in my research. Most of my studies refer to agriculture and forestry as these two types of human activity substantially alter natural landscape and thus pose serious threats to native biodiversity. I am also interested in methodological issues associated with sampling and counting animals in the field as well as in statistical data analysis.
