Hello, If you visited my MRI-PAS profile page then you are probably interested in ecology and research. Or more broadly interested in MRI's projects. Or you were just curious and wondered, who is this guy? I am here to solve this, not so interesting mystery for you.
My interests in the field of biology and ecology vary a lot. When I started my studies as an Animal Scientist (Agricultural University of Athens, Greece), animal behaviour grabbed my attention. Consequently, my master's thesis dealt with aggressive behaviour in sea bream (Sparus aurata) individuals and how it might get affected by population structure change. At the same time, I dived more into wildlife ecology. My internship and eventually my research assistant position at the Max Planck Institute of Animal Behaviour (Germany), expanded my views and ideas on wildlife research. There I studied and worked on the research of the Dehnel’s phenomenon's impacts on the cognitive and behavioural responses of the common shrew (Sorex araneus) throughout different seasons. This experience triggered my curiosity about the connections of animal behaviour with environmental changes such as climate change as I was also intrigued by conservation ecology. Thus, my current focal point and my PhD project emphasizes on animal-mediated seed dispersal and its effects on European Beech (Fagus sylvatica) range shifts in Swiss Alps, to possibly higher elevations due to global warming.
