Dr hab. D.P.J. Kuijper received a new grant from the National Science Center, Poland (OPUS grant no: 2015/17/B/NZ8/02403) entitled “Landscape of fear in closed-canopy forests: combined effects of tree logs and wolves on regeneration of palatable and less palatable tree species”. With this grant we can continue our recently started work on behaviorally-mediated effects of large carnivores on their ungulate prey species and the consequences this has for tree regeneration.

An important new aspect we will address in this grant is how predation risk effects influence foraging by ungulates on trees which differ in palatability.
