MRI’s conference on the conservation of the European bison

On 25-27 February 2010, the MRI will organise an international scientific conference “European bison conservation in the Białowieża Forest”.

The conference is aimed at summing up the realization of the LIFE Nature project „BISON LAND – European Bison Conservation in the Białowieża Forest, Poland”. We hope that the conference will be a platform for exchange of ideas and knowledge relevant to protection and management of free-living bison populations. It should also facilitate formulation of conclusions of the project, assessment of its results as well as determination of further conservation actions.

We also expect the conference to contribute to closer cooperation among people involved in the conservation of the European bison and management of free-living populations of this species in Poland and other countries. The papers presented during the conference will form a basis for a publication aimed at accumulating and promoting best practices concerning research and management focusing on the European bison.

You are warmly welcome to participate!
