Beginning from 1.07.2010, dr habil. Andrzej Zalewski is a new director of the Mammal Research Institute PAS. The deputy director for science is, as before, dr hab. Krzysztof Schmidt. Former director prof. Włodzimierz Jędrzejewski resigned due to responsibilities with a new scientific project in South America.
