Group description
Our research group works at the interface of science and practice to help inform effective nature conservation strategies. We study how environmental change and human activities affect species and ecosystems, and how conservation and management decisions can help mitigate these impacts. We aim to combine biodiversity monitoring, community science, and collaboration across disciplines and sectors.
Some of the questions that motivate us:
- How can management strategies be optimized to maximize practical goals and biodiversity maintenance?
- What interventions best promote coexistence between people and wildlife?
- How can conservation safeguard wildlife and ecosystems amid geopolitical conflict while balancing ecological, humanitarian, and national security goals?
Our research topics include:
- Human-wildlife interactions, conflicts and coexistence
- Transboundary conservation
- Biodiversity, from forests to farms
- Road and barrier ecology
- Disturbance ecology
- Forest ecology and management
- One Health
- Conservation advocacy
